Background: Fever is a common medical problem in children which often prompts parents to seek immediate medical care. This study investigated personnel's and parents' knowledge, attitude and practice about fever in children that come to medicine care units in Isfahan during winter 2007. Patients and Methods: The study involved the random selection of Isfahan parents who brought their febrile children to the clinics in Isfahan and personnel whom attended in medical science university of Isfahan (250 parents and 250 personnel that composed of masters, assistant, interns and nurses). They answered standard questionnaire to obtain sociodemographic information and current knowledge, attitude and practice of fever. A total of 500 questionnaires were completed by the 5 groups. Results: The masters and assistants have competent score in knowledge entirely, interns and nurses have acceptable knowledge although parents' knowledge was not competent about fever in childhood. There is a significant difference between groups in knowledge (p<0.001). In our study all groups had positive opinion if faced to a febrile child. Anova test, statistically showed that there is a significant difference between groups in attitude (p<0.001). It was noteworthy that parents and most of the personnel had close results in practice in approaching to a febrile child. Conclusion: In conclusion, most masters and assistants in Isfahan are aware of role of fever in the immunological cascade, whereas nurses and interns are less so, and their approach to certain issues is closer to each other than to the physicians. Parental misconceptions may lead to excessive utilization of health care services and to institution of treatment that may be doing more harm than good. Key words: fever, children, personnel, parent, knowledge, attitude, practice..
