OBJECTIVE: This study compared the efficacy & safety of recombinant human chorionic gonadotropin (RHCG) (ovitrelle) &urinary human chorionic gonadotrophin (UHCG)(CHORIMNON) for induction of follicular maturation & early luteinization in infertile women undergoing assisted reproductive technology treatment. DESIGN: prospective double-blind, parallel group simple randomized clinical trial study. SETTING: 126 infertile women undergoing a single cycle of assisted reproduction technology. Methods & Materials: in this prospectivedouble-blind simple randomized clinical trial study which was done in two infertility center of Isfahan (Beheshti Hospital & fertility & infertility center of Isfahan) 126 infertile women divided in two equal groups. Group A: 63 patients received UHCG (10,000IU im , choriomon تIBSA-Switzerland) & group B: 63 patients received RHCG (250 mcgsqovitrelle,serono.merck.switzerland) after follicular stimulation with HMG In a step-down protocol.RESULTS: Biochemical & clinical pregnancyrate wasn't different between two groups.Abortion rate in group A was 11.1 versus in group B was 6.3 (PValue=0.34).OHSS rate in group: A was 3.2 & in group: B were 11.1 (P-Value=0.04). the rate of OHSS was higher in group B but Abortion was more in group A.CONCLUSION: According to our findings, RHCG was less effective in inducting final follicular maturation & early leuteinization but was associated with more OHSS & less Abortion..
