Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) or recurrent miscarriage (RM) is one of the most important problem in 2-5 percent of women desiring child. paternal lymphocyte therapy is a common treatment for RSA patients. Due to discrepancy in paternal lymphocyte therapy outcome, new therapeutic strategies have introduced for RSA Patient. considering the immunomodulatory effects of 1a, 25 dihydroxy-vitamin-D3 we used eombination of vitamin D3 and lympocyte therapy for these patients. since disturbance of maternal tolerance is implicated in miscarriage, this study intends to investigate the effect of vitamin D3 on balance of two essential T cells subsets, T helper (TH) 17 and T regulatory (Treg) cells, involved in tolerance retention. the expressions of CD4 and FOXP3 for Treg and CD4 and IL-17 for Th17 were evaluated in patients with flowcytometry, before and 3 months after immunotherapy with paternal lymphocytes and vitamin D3 (treatment group) compared with RSa women receiving lymphocyte therapy alove (control group)the results showed that vitamin D3 therapy increased Treg cells frequency while Th17 fraction and Th17/Treg ratio in peripheral blood fo RSA patients in treatment group compared with control group. regarding to higher Th17/Treg ratio in peripheral blood of RSa patients, vitamin D3 can be considered ad an effective therapeutic approach for women with abortion.
