Abstract

Acute pancreatitis is the most common complication of ECRP which is accompanied by morbidity and rarely mortality. in this type of pacreatitis, abdominal pain usually stats within 6 hours after ERCP. celecoxib is an NSAIDs that reduces the production of prostaglandins, thereby display its anti-inflammatory effect. this study was conducted to determine the effect of celecoxib in preventing the incidenc of post-ERCP pancreatitis in Alzahra University of medical sciences in Isfahn. in this study , 76 patients candidated for ERCP were randomly aassigned into two groups of 38.5 hours before ERCP, serum amlase of each patient were took and, at the same time, 300 mg celecoxib was administered to the treatment group. the control group, received the same amout of placebo. after ERCP, all patients were observed for 2 hours in respect to clinical signs and symptoms and the level of amylase was controlled. the obtained data were analyzed through SPSS 20. this study revealed that level of serum amylase after ERCP in both groups, significantly increased which was higher in the group receiving celecoxib, but in general the level of amylase did not change in both group. the incidence of pacnreatitis after ERCP was not different in two groups. in other words, using Celecoxib had ni effect n preventing pancreatitis in patients studied.
