| Abstract

to compare the self-perception of weight in the study population and its association with weight-related behaviors among Iranian women aged over 19 yeras. data were collected from 462 married women aged over 19 at Isfahan bealth care centers. participants were questioned about their age, number of children, education level and job. then, they were questioned about their overweight and obesity and their weight related behaviours. then their hhight and weight was measured and their BMI calculated. the association between self perception of weight status and measured BMI and weight related behaviours were assessed. 52.9 percent of study population wsa overweight and obese. among overweight and normal weight individuals, 14.3 percent and 22.8 percent were misperceivers respectively. education, occupation and taking medication had no effect on weight self perception. actual overweight group and self perceived overweight group had lower odds of physical activity behaviors. having diet to weitht loss linked to only higher odds of actual morma weight not perceived normal weight. weight misperception os common among both overweight and normal weight women. the difference between self-perception of weight and measured values of weight shows that the determining factor on weight control can be related to individual assessments about body status.
