| Abstract

this systematic review paper aimed to study the experimental and human studies on relationship between metabolic syndrome, its component and element of selenium. the literatures were searche in PubMed, Scopus and Google Scholar databases with no time limitation. the related papers were selected in three phases. after quality assessmnt two reviewers extracted the data while third reviewer checked their extrcted data. all evidence comes from experimental and laboratory studies. whiles selemium as an anti oxidant agent be found correlated with endothelial function, large controversy about type of correlation includign positive correlation and negative correlation and no correlation between metabolic syndrome and lelenium levels in body seen in result. some of the reviewed studies were focused on anti-oxidant supplementation effents on metabolic syndrome, resutls aslo vary in this regard. this incomsistency could be summarized due to divesity in study designing, and population , lack of special focus on selenium and metabolic syndrome, and finally the extensive nature of metabolic syndome.
