Background:Interventional procedures on urinary tract led to patient reactions and several methods were examined for control and prevention of these. Thus, regarding the painful nature of urology invasive procedures including cystoscopy, Dj catheter insertion and etc. and the advantages of the combination of propofol and remifentalin, the present study is carried out aiming at investigating the effectiveness of two different compounds of these drugs on controlling the painful procedures under the sedation. Material and Methods: This is a double blind randomized clinical trial study that conducted in Alzahra Hospital, Isfahan, Iran during 2012 - 2013. 60 patients who had the inclusion criteria were selected and randomly divided in two groups of 30 patients. Group A were received 1000إg remifentanil + 5cc propofol 1 + 24cc n/s and group B were received 500 إg remifentanil + 15 cc propofol1 + 14.5 cc n/s. Sedation was infused through using two different compounds of remifentanil and propofol. The respiration rate of these patients , sedation score and patients reaction during procedures was measured and analyzed by SPSS soft ware Results: The means of the hospitalization time in the recovery room in groups A and B were respectively 14.7+/-7.2 and 9.3+/-4.2 minutes. Based on T-test, the mean of the hospitalization time in the recovery room was significantly lower in group B (p=0.001). During the procedure, totally 26 patients, 19 patients from group A and 7 patients from group B (i.e. 61.3 versus 24.1 ), had movement reaction. In this case, based on the chi-square test, two groups were significantly different (p=0.004). Conclusion:according to the results of this and other study, using a compound of these two drugs in which the propofol proportion is more than remifentalin, will show more eligible results.
